Guest Speaker Serena Dunbar

I accepted the Lord during Vacation Bible School at the age of 5. My family didn’t attend church, however, so I didn’t really grow in the Lord until I was in high school. At that time, two major events happened in my life: I was exposed to missions, and I was sanctified. After marrying Mark, a man who also had a call to the mission field, we worked at WGM’s headquarters in Marion, Indiana, as I finished my degree in education.

In 1989, we headed to Honduras, where we served for twenty-three years. After that we headed to Mexico, where we currently serve. Our life on the mission field has never been boring! I have done everything from helping put out forest fires and serving as superintendent of a high school to delivering pigs and leading Bible studies. Now I have the privilege of serving as the Area Team Leader of Mexico and Assistant Regional Director of the Americas. It is a joy to serve God wherever He leads me, and I look forward to seeing what He will continue to have us do in this newest season of ministry now living back in my home city of Portland!

Retreat Schedule

A flow of activities, free time, time together and individual times with room for both reflection and fun.

Food

We will provide lite dinner on Friday, breakfast / lunch / dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Leftovers will be opened for lunch on Sunday if your driver has time. 

Transportation

Due to limited parking and riders needing to be matched to cars, there will be assigned drivers and their riders. All effort will be made to keep buddies together.

What to Bring

Must bring:                                           

• Bad weather clothes & swimsuit
• Shower items including towel/s
• Medicine , Teeth and hair stuff
• Money-pay for gas to your driver
• Money for food stops to and from
• Personal mug / cup (easy to find)
• Inside slippers/socks/barefeet
• Pen/pencil/
• Bible (app on phone or paper)

Could bring:

• Journal
• Favorite coffee for coffee maker
• Flashlight
• If often hot, bring a personal fan.
• If often cold, bring extra blanket.
• Sleeping bag if asked to

Cost $140 per person.
